On Saturday August 24th the Jazz Room at the legendary Bull’s Head in Barnes was filled with a decidedly appreciative audience for the special album tour of singer and saxophonist Kim Cypher’s new album, “Love Kim x”. Kim and her talented band had the crowd shouting for more as they played two highly entertaining sets which brilliantly showcased the funkier side of the jazz genre.

Kim Cypher is a vibrant saxophonist, a fine singer and has an exuberant stage presence. Opening a Festival is a tricky art. I’ve never seen an artist engage with an audience better and get the crowd up and dancing so quickly. Kim and her fine band were a perfect choice as openers. They set the tone for our 25th Festival and got the day off to a great start. I look forward to working with them again.

There were so many elements there. Tonally it just reminded me of Grover Washington Junior…so funky and the rhythm and the feel is so great.

What a treat! Kim and her band came to Mill Hill on what was a very wet and gloomy Wednesday evening. The room literally lit up when the band walked on stage! A TOP CLASS performance. Everyone loved the varied selection of music - tracks from Kim's new album 'Love Kim x', original songs and some great versions of well-known songs. You could hear a pin drop as Kim sang an incredible version of 'Valerie'. I think this is the best version I have heard. The rapturous applause confirmed the rest of the audience agreed. It was an absolute pleasure having such quality music with such a friendly atmosphere. Kim's funky style went down a storm! We have never had anybody who can sing, play three different saxophones, whistle a solo and chat so warmly to the audience! We will definitely be asking them back...and soon we hope!
We were absolutely enthralled to watch Kim with BD Lenz at Nantwich Jazz Festival last night. If you get the opportunity please go and watch these amazingly talented performers as you will not be disappointed. Extremely talented; it was our pleasure to listen.
Response: Thank you so much Sharon for your kind words. It was great as always to perform with the phenomenal B.D. Lenz. Thank you for supporting x
We had foot tapping music, beautifully played and superbly presented by a singing saxophonist who really knows her stuff. By that I mean knowing the music and knowing also how to appeal to an audience. The music ranged from straight ahead jazz to quite funky but everything worked well and there were a few tunes where the audience were clapping and swaying along to the music. That’s not bad getting a jazz audience to join in like that. It was a great evening with a number of people hoping that she might be invited back. That’s if she can get it all into the diary. After all we are competing now with venues like Pizza Express in London! I’m sure Kim and the band will be making swinging music and many friends for years to come.

Just a quick to email to tell you how much I enjoyed your performance yesterday evening at Annie's Jazz Club. I appreciate you making the journey to Southend to play for us, and for the energy and the professionalism that you brought to the music.
I wish you the best with your tour and with your imminent second album.
Response: Thank you Mark. I really appreciate you taking the time to email. Thanks also for coming along to Annie's Jazz Club to support my tour. I hope to see you again some time x
What a delight to host Kim Cypher & her wonderful trio of musicians on Tuesday. They won the smartest band award and our hearts. An incredibly professional outfit who are a joy to experience. Kim plays a mean sax/sings & engages the audience with humour and infectious excitement. Superb musicianship from all including Chris Cobbson on guitar who is one of the best. Lovely arrangements of some well known songs that sounded better than the originals. Kim launches her new album at The Pizza Express & is touring around the country. Please get along if you can - you won't be disappointed. I am looking forward to hearing the new album soon.
Response: Thank you so much Ann. It was an absolute pleasure bringing my 'Love Kim x' album tour to Southend-On-Sea, to your lovely Annie's Jazz Club. We can't wait to see you all again x
Kim is a dedicated, serious musician – it’s a pleasure to work with a true student carrying on the magic we know as music for music lovers – hats off to a true heart and soul performer.
Kim Cypher shows how it's done at Pizza Express with a killer band. A sold-out audience participation crowd rewarded with a standing ovation. Great night!
