A fabulous FUNKY day at the Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival!

Firstly an amazing Funk Masterclass with the masters of Funk saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis and trombonist Fred Wesley – two of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century whose legacy is unrivalled due to their pioneering work as James Brown’s horn section in the 1960s.  I have been lucky enough to have been studying with Pee Wee for the past few years.

Then, I saw one of my saxophone heroes, the ‘King of Funk and Soul’ Maceo Parker and his awesome band (with a little guest appearance by Pee Wee Ellis).

A day doesn’t get any more FUNKY than that!
